Achieving optimal functionality and maintaining the integrity of windows hinges on their proper installation. Today, the industry embraces a technique known as “warm installation,” which has become the gold standard for ensuring that the critical junction between a window and its surrounding wall is adequately insulated. This method incorporates a dual-layer insulation approach for enhanced thermal protection. Specifically, it involves the application of both external and internal insulation layers. Internally, a vapor-tight barrier is essential to prevent the ingress of moisture and water vapor from inside the building. Externally, the insulation must be both vapor-permeable and water-resistant, capable of withstanding heavy rainfall without compromising the dryness of the insulation layer. Maintaining the insulation layer’s dryness is crucial for preventing frost damage and mold growth over time.

The intersection where the window frame meets the external wall is particularly vulnerable to heat loss and moisture ingress. Consequently, it’s vital to ensure a robust seal between the window joinery and the wall. The insulation system comprises three key components:

– Internal Sealing (Vapor-proof Band): This acts as a protective barrier for the insulation layer, thwarting the entry of interior moisture and water vapor.
– Middle Layer (Fitting Foam): Serves as both a thermal and acoustic insulator, enhancing the window’s overall performance.
– External Sealing (Vapor-permeable Band): This layer is designed to prevent external moisture from penetrating while allowing internal moisture to escape, thus maintaining the insulation’s effectiveness.
